Howard, Petke make All-Star team

MetroStars goalkeeper Tim Howard and defender Mike Petke have each been named to the starting eleven for the MLS All-Star team that will face the U.S. National Team in the 2002 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game, to be played Saturday, August 3rd at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC.

This marks the third career MLS All-Star selection and second straight start for Petke, while Howard will be making his second straight All-Star appearance and his first career start.

The two MetroStars players join defenders Ryan Suarez (Dallas), Carlos Bocanegra (Chicago Fire), along with midfielders Richard Mulrooney (San Jose), Steve Ralston (New England), Carlos Valderrama (Colorado), Mark Chung (Colorado), and Dema Kovalenko (Chicago). The forwards are Carlos Ruiz (Los Angeles) and Taylor Twellman (New England).
